Warring backs parole for Hawara
Ludhiana, Aug. 25 -- Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Monday favoured the demand for parole for Jagtar Singh Hawara, who is serving a life sentence for the assassination of then Punjab chief minister Beant Singh in 1995, saying parole was a legal right.
Replying to a question during a conversation with reporters after paying homage to late Radhey Shyam Malhotra on his martyrdom anniversary here, the Ludhiana MP said there was nothing wrong if he was granted parole. Hawara had sought parole to meet his ailing mother.
Warring also supported the demand for installing a statue of Radhey Shyam Malhotra. "We owe such memorials to our martyrs who laid down their lives so that we could live in peace and harmony," he said....
