India, June 16 -- T he divorce proceedings involving Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay and his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, saw no major developments on Monday, June 15, as the Chengalpattu Mahila Court adjourned the matter to August 7. According to an India Today report, both Vijay and Sangeetha attended the hearing, which began around 10.30am, as directed by the court. However, the session concluded without any decisions or resolutions being reached. Sangeetha has filed for divorce, seeking to formally end their 27-year marriage. The couple legally registered their marriage in the UK in 1998 before having a traditional wedding ceremony in Chennai in 1999. The petition, filed under the Special Marriage Act, 1954, alleges adultery and cruelty. According to the filing, Sangeetha claims she discovered in April 2021 that Vijay was involved in a relationship with an unnamed female actor. The petition further alleges that despite repeated assurances that the relationship would end, Vijay continued to travel and make public appearances with the actor.
