Mohali, Aug. 11 -- The municipal corporation's ongoing anti-encroachment drives have come under scrutiny, with vendors alleging that officials are resorting to arbitrary methods while removing illegal encroachments. Vendors claim that teams often take away entire carts and the goods placed on them instead of following a proper seizure procedure. They allege that no inventory or seizure receipt is provided, leaving them with no record of the items taken away. They further allege that tandoors, tables and other equipment are sometimes damaged during the drives, causing them financial losses. The issue has now been raised with the Punjab Vigilance Bureau by Phase 2 resident and RTI activist Pawan Sharma, who has submitted a complaint seeking action. Meanwhile, BJP district president Sanjeev Vashisht visited the Phase 7 market during an anti-encroachment drive and accused the civic body of adopting a 'pick-and-choose' approach....
