Vendor stabs shopkeeper to death in Sector 26 Mandi
Chandigarh, Aug. 17 -- A shopkeeper in the Sector 26 Mandi was stabbed to death by a man, who had a stall outside the shop, after the victim told him that he would set up his own stall at that spot on Friday night. Police said the victim, Deshraj, who was in his forties, sold capsicum and coriander. Owing to the rain, he could not set up his shop properly on Friday so he told the accused, Vinod, that he would set up a stall there.
Later that night, Vinod came with his two sons and allegedly attacked the victim with a knife, stabbing him in the chest before fleeing.
The victim was rushed to Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) where he was declared brought dead.
A murder case has been registered at the Sector 26 police station against Vinod and his two sons. Police are scanning CCTV footage and trying to trace the accused, officials said. Deshraj had been working in the mandi for around eight years. He used to sleep in his shop, police added....
