Mohali, Aug. 2 -- The head coach of the Chandigarh Cricket Association (UTCA) men's team, Rajeev Nayyar, was allegedly assaulted by five unidentified men near Sector 97, Mohali, on Friday evening. Sohana police have registered an FIR and started an investigation. In his complaint, the 58-year-old coach said he was returning in his car after organising a cricket match for his team at the Launching Pad Academy when the incident occurred around 5 pm. He alleged that five men travelling in a white SUV without a number plate intercepted his vehicle and assaulted him. Nayyar told police that the attack was unprovoked. He did not name or identify any of the attackers and said he did not suspect anyone behind the assault. Sohana police registered a case against five unidentified persons under relevant provisions for rioting and other offences.
