US military plans to board Iran ships, seize them on high seas
New Delhi, April 19 -- The US military is preparing to board Iran-linked oil tankers and seize commercial ships in international waters, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The US government's plan is meant to force the Iranian government to re-open the Strait of Hormuz and gain leverage over its nuclear programme.
The US has already turned back 23 ships that were going to or coming from leave Iranian ports since it began its naval blockade on April 13. Extending the blockade to international waters will allow the US to take control of Iran-linked vessels around the world, including ships carrying Iranian oil that are already sailing outside the Persian Gulf and arms that could support the Iranian regime, WSJ reported.
