Unified bus schedule rolled out to end ISBT bay clashes
Chandigarh, April 2 -- Ending years of on-ground disputes between bus operators over parking bays at city bus terminals, the State Transport Authority (STA), Chandigarh, has finalised a joint timetable for buses operating from Inter-State Bus Terminals (ISBT) in Sector 17 and Sector 43.
The move comes in the wake of persistent disputes between drivers and conductors of different state transport undertakings, particularly at ISBT-43, over bay allocations and departure timings. Multiple buses arrived and attempted to occupy the same bays at overlapping times, which led to regular disputes.
Officials said the unified timetable was primarily aimed at bringing order to bus bay usage and preventing overlaps that led to repeated confrontations among bus operators.
"The unified timetable will ensure more systematic bus operations and minimise confusion among operators," an official said.
The timetable has been finalised with the mutual consent of multiple state transport agencies, including CTU, Punjab Roadways, PEPSU, Haryana Roadways, Rajasthan Road Transport Corporation, Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC), Uttarakhand Transport Corporation and Uttar Pradesh Road Transport Corporation.HTC...
