Chandigarh, May 15 -- Two Punjab-origin men have been arrested and charged following a Surrey Police Service (SPS) investigation into an incident where shots were allegedly fired at a residence linked to extortion threats. Those arrested have been identified as Damanjeet Singh, 22, and Pardaman Singh, 30. They have been charged with one count of discharging a firearm into a place knowing or being reckless as to whether someone was present, and one count of possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without a licence, a SPS release said. The release added that on April 22, this year, at approximately 12:40 am, frontline officers responded to calls of shots fired at a home in the 13400 block of 87A Avenue. Police confirmed damage to the residence and a vehicle. Although the residence was occupied at the time of the shooting. No one was injured in the incident. SPS's Extortion Response Team (ExRT) took over the lead on the probe, a suspect vehicle was identified, and a search warrant was obtained. ExRT members executed the warrant on a residence in Surrey with the assistance of the Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team, Canada Border Services Agency, and other SPS teams.
