Rohtak, July 1 -- Two minor boys allegedly died after they drowned in a deep water-filled dig near a canal near Lahlana of Bhiwani district, officials said. The deceased, who were cousins, have been identified as Piyush Kumar (16) and Viren Singh (15), who were residents of Lahlana village in the Bhiwani district. According to the family members, both boys had left home around 4.15 am for their daily morning run. On their way, they decided to take a bath in the dig near the canal but due to the depth of the water, they drowned. Local villagers from Bhakhra spotted the children struggling and tried to rescue them. Later, the kids were declared dead at a hospital. Bhiwani's Jui Kalan police station ASI Suresh Kumar said that the boys regularly went for morning walks. "On Tuesday morning, they entered the dig to bathe and drowned. Villagers and relatives brought them to the hospital," he said.
