Mohali, Sept. 18 -- A young employee on Thursday and an 18-year-old cricket player were killed in separate road mishaps in Mohali. In the first incident, Abhishek Rawat, a Patiala native who lived in a PG in Sector 57, died after an unidentified vehicle hit his motorcycle near the Phase 8B light point around 11.30 am on Thursday. Rawat worked with Teleperformance in Phase 8 Industrial Area and was on his way to work for his noon shift. His friends, who were also travelling to work, spotted him and took him to Civil Hospital, Phase 6, where doctors declared him dead. In the second incident, 18-year-old Sameer Thakur, a native of Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, died after his Bullet motorcycle skidded near Sector 88 around 10.30 pm on Wednesday. Thakur was travelling from gym to his PG and was training at a cricket academy in Mohali. People in the area took Thakur to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Two days after a 17-year-old college student died while crossing Sector 9/17 dividing road, UT Police have booked an auto driver. The deceased was identified as Lovepreet Singh of Maloya. The deceased was a student of Post Graduate Government College (PGGC), Sector 11, the police said. The accident occurred at around 3.15 pm when an auto hit him while he was crossing the road. He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) for treatment, but later succumbed to his injuries during the treatment. An FIR under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered on Wednesday, on the complaint of an eye witness Davinder Singh, at Sector 3 police station. The accused Narinder Kumar, a resident of Manimajra, fled the spot after the accident but was later identified and arrested. In another accident near Kisan Bhawan Chowk on September 16, a Himachal Pradesh-registered bus hit a scooty at around 3.45 pm, leaving a woman and her friend injured. They were admitted to Government Multi Specialty Hospital, Sector 16 (GMSH-16) for treatment. Sector 17 police station booked bus driver Shamsher Singh under Sections 281(rash driving) and 125 (a) (act endangering life) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)....
