Karnal, Aug. 21 -- Two kids died of snakebite in separate incidents in Kaithal district during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, officials said. The deceased were identified as Harsh, 10, a resident of Sugar Mill Colony and Rangoli, 3, of Gadli village in the district. Both of them were taken to Kaithal civil hospital, where doctors declared them dead after examination. Harsh's father Ajay said that he was a class 6 student and the incident happened at around 3-4 am when he was sleeping with the family on the bed. "The snake climbed onto the bed and bit the child twice. Initially he told us that a mouse had bitten him, but later my wife saw the snake. My brother killed it, and we rushed Harsh to hospital, where doctors declared him dead," he said. Rangoli's father Subhash said his daughter was sleeping on the floor with her family and elder sister when she suddenly started crying loudly at around 4 am. "We found a black spot near her thigh and took her to civil hospital, where doctors declared her dead," he said....
