Three-year-old girl raped in Gidderbaha
Bathinda, Sept. 2 -- A three-year-old girl was raped and abandoned near the railway station in Muktsar's Gidderbaha on Monday, police said.
The child was found lying in the bushes in a critical condition by members of a social organisation and moved to the Gidderbaha civil hospital, where a medical examination confirmed rape. She was later referred to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot, where she remains under treatment.
According to information, the child belongs to an underprivileged family from Malout town in Muktsar. Her father told the police that his wife had left home with their daughter a month ago.
Government Railway Police (GRP) registered a rape case against unidentified persons at the GRP police station in Abohar following a statement by the child's mother.
Meanwhile, in a statement, Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring expressed shock over the brutal assault. Terming the incident an example of the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, he demanded strict action against the persons behind the crime....
