Thieves attempt to break into Panchkula bank strongroom
Panchkula, Oct. 22 -- Thieves attempted to rob the strongroom of a nationalised private bank in Sector 27 on Monday night.
Police said the suspects scaled the back wall of the bank and used a machine to cut through the iron grills to gain entry.
The crime unfolded late Monday evening and continued into the night.
Security guards initially mistook the noise for that of an ATM machine, but when it persisted, they checked CCTV footage and discovered an intruder attempting to break into the bank.
The footage showed one of the suspects with his face covered.
The police were alerted around 1:30 am, and ACP Ajit Singh along with a forensic team reached the scene for a thorough investigation on Tuesday morning.
Security quickly notified senior bank officials, and the authorities were called to the spot.
A case has been registered at Chandimandir police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita(BNS)....
