Tewari seeks measures to fix accident-prone 'black spots'
Chandigarh, April 28 -- With road accident fatalities continuing to remain a concern, Member of Parliament Manish Tewari on Monday directed UT authorities to take time-bound action to fix accident-prone 'black spots', strengthen emergency response systems, and fast-track key infrastructure projects, including a pending flyover.
Chairing the first meeting of the district road safety council, Tewari flagged critical gaps in enforcement, road engineering and post-accident care.
Deputy commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav stressed the need for a coordinated response involving multiple agencies, including the traffic police, engineering departments and health services.
MP Tewari also flagged off a newly procured ambulance at the deputy commissioner's office in Sector 17 on Monday. The ambulance, equipped with Basic Life Support (BLS) facilities, has been provided to the Indian Red Cross society, Chandigarh, under the MPLAD scheme. Officials said this is expected to improve patient transportation and ensure timely assistance during medical emergencies.
