Teenager run over by speeding car in Mohali
Mohali, Aug. 30 -- An 18-year-old girl died after a speeding car hit her near the bus stand in Mohali on August 23, the police said.
The victim identified as Surinder Kaur, suffered critical head injuries in the accident and died while undergoing treatment at PGIMER, Chandigarh.
According to the complaint, Kaur had gone with her maternal uncle, Hargobind Singh, on his scooter (PB 27N 3901) to pick up her elder sister, Gurwinder Kaur, from her workplace near Nirwana Square, Kharar.
Hargobind parked the scooter near the bus stand and crossed the road to buy groceries.
As he returned, a white Honda City bearing number HR 08Y 5879, coming from the Kurali side hit Kaurwho was waiting by the roadside and the collision left her with severe head injuries.
The driver, Angrej Singh, a resident of Sohana, stopped after the accident and took her to PGIMER in his car.
Assistant sub-inspector Kulwinder Singh recorded Hargobind's statement at the hospital.
