Mohali, Sept. 16 -- Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCH&RC), New Chandigarh, has successfully performed its first allogeneic bone marrow transplant, with a 17-year-old girl donating her stem cells to give her 10-year-old brother a new lease of life. The boy had been battling acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) and was diagnosed with a second relapse in April this year. Doctors recommended an allogeneic stem cell transplant as the best curative treatment option, after the chemo.
