Taslima Nasreen to return to Kolkata after 19 years on Aug 1
Kolkata, July 15 -- Exiled Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen is scheduled to attend a cultural event at Kolkata's Rabindra Sadan on August 1 - nearly two decades after she was forced to leave the West Bengal's capital city amid violent protests over her writings.
Three organisations - Paschimbonger Jonno, Human Rights Beyond Frontiers and Secular Mission - are organising the event where Nasreen, who lives in Delhi since 2011, will be felicitated.
"Chief minister Suvendu Adhikari and (BJP state president) Samik Bhattacharya have been invited to the event. Bhattacharya earlier demanded her return to Bengal," Mohit Roy, one of the organisers, told reporters on Tuesday.HTC...
