Mumbai, Sept. 19 -- A Marshall Islands-flagged oil product tanker, the MT STI Steadfast, was attacked while transiting the Strait of Hormuz at approximately 12.45 UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) on Friday. According to a report by the Directorate of Maritime Administration based in Mumbai, the vessel is stable despite sustaining a hull breach in its first ballast tank. The vessel's main engine and power systems are operational, and the vessel is proceeding towards Khor Fakkan, the report said. The report added that there are 23 crew members on board, including 22 Indian nationals. All crew members are confirmed safe. So far, there have been four incidents involving Indian-flagged vessels and 57 incidents involving foreign-flagged vessels with Indian crew members since the beginning of the conflict in West Asia. These incidents have accounted for 10 confirmed fatalities, 12 injured, and one presumed deceased crew member, according to official records.
