Jalandhar, May 7 -- Two minor boys drowned after their mother jumped into Kali Bein with them in a suicide bid at Sultanpur Lodhi on Wednesday afternoon. While locals rescued the woman, the children, aged 3 and 6, could not be saved. Their bodies were fished out later, said police. Sultanpur Lodhi SHO Harinder Singh said the children's parents had a strained relationship. The father, a daily wage labourer, alleged that his wife picked up their sons from school and jumped into the stream.
