New Delhi, May 26 -- Hours after facing online abuse for flagging discrepancies in his Class 12 Physics answer sheet, Delhi student Vedant Shrivastava received relief on Monday after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) acknowledged that an incorrect scanned copy had been uploaded against his roll number and sent him the correct script. In an email seen by HT, CBSE Joint Secretary (Coordination) informed Shrivastava that the mismatch had been identified and that his marks would be revised. A senior CBSE official confirmed the development. "We communicated to Vedant Shrivastava today and have sent the correct answer copy to him on his email. His marks will be updated accordingly," the official said, declining to explain how the wrong Physics answer sheet came to be linked to Shrivastava's roll number. The incident has drawn attention to CBSE's new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, introduced this year for Class 12 evaluations to digitise assessment and improve access to answer scripts during re-evaluation. The board had said the system would reduce human error and improve access to answer scripts during re-evaluation. However, several students have reported issues ranging from blurry scans and missing pages to mismatched answer sheets. Shrivastava had applied for scanned copies of his answer sheets after receiving what he considered unexpectedly low marks in Physics when results were declared on May 13. When the copies were made available on May 23, he noticed that the Physics script uploaded against his roll number appeared to belong to another candidate, while his English and Computer Science answer sheets matched his handwriting. CBSE has maintained that the OSM system improves transparency and efficiency. Monday was the last day for students to obtain scanned copies and raising objections. CBSE evaluators will check objections and revise marks by May 29....
