Student attacked by masked men in Kharar, FIR registered
Mohali, March 1 -- A 25-year-old B.Tech student complained that five masked men assaulted him with sharp-edged and blunt weapons outside Modern Valley, Block C, in the early hours of Thursday.
According to the FIR registered on February 27, complainant Ashish Kumar stated that he was sitting with his friends Ayush, Shivam and Sakib near the gate of the residential complex when the assault took place. He mentioned that a white car without a registration number plate stopped near them. Five young men, armed with axes, choppers and sticks, came out of the vehicle and surrounded him.
Ashish further mentioned that the attackers repeatedly struck him while his friends fled the spot. After assaulting him, the accused allegedly threatened him and escaped in the same car. According to the complainant, one of his friends, Manish, later took him to the civil hospital, Phase 6, Mohali, for treatment.
Medical records show that he sustained seven injuries, including six caused by blunt weapons and one by a sharp-edged weapon. Doctors initially declared him unfit to give a statement. After being administered medical aid, experts declared him fit following which police officials recorded his statement and registered an FIR against the unidentified accused.
Ashish told police that he has no known enmity with anyone. He stated that does not know the reason behind the attack. Police officials have registered the FIR against five unidentified persons under Sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 118(1) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons), 126 (wrongful restraint), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 351(3), 190 (unlawful assembly) and 191(3) (rioting) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
According to police officials, a thorough investigation is being conducted to identify and apprehend the culprits....
