Chandigarh, May 12 -- Host school St Xavier's Senior Secondary School emerged victorious in both categories of the "6th Emily Memorial Badminton Tournament" held on May 11 at the school premises in Sector 44-C, Chandigarh. The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation and highly competitive matches among leading schools from the tricity region. In the Girls Under-14 category, St Xavier's School clinched the title by defeating Ajit Karam Singh International Public School-41 in straight games with a score of 21-15, 21-9 in the final. Earlier, in the third-place match, Chitkara International School secured third position after registering a convincing 21-8, 21-9 victory over Carmel Convent School. In the Boys Under-17 category, host team St. Xavier's Senior Secondary School lifted the championship trophy after defeating Ajit Karam Singh International Public School-41 by 2-1 in a thrilling final. After losing the opening game 10-21, St Xavier bounced back strongly to win the next two games 21-18 and 21-19. The third-place honours in the boys category went to Shemrock School, which defeated St Xavier's High School, Panchkula by 21-13, 21-15.
