SIR enumeration begins with awareness walkathon at Sukhna
Chandigarh, June 16 -- The The special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls began in Chandigarh with the commencement of the enumeration phase on Monday. It will continue till July 14.
To boost public participation, the UT administration launched a series of voter awareness activities across the city. A walkathon held at Sukhna Lake saw participation from over 200 Anganwadi workers and civil defence volunteers.
The drive is part of efforts to ensure that electoral rolls remain accurate.
Booth level officers have started house-to-house visits. Officials said the exercise witnessed an encouraging response on the very first day, with 37,410 enumeration forms distributed to electors across the city till 5pm.
