Panchkula, July 31 -- The Haryana anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested a sub-inspector (SI) posted at theSector-21 police post inPanchkula while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.5,000. According to the ACB, the complainant alleged that his car had been impounded at theSector 21 police post inconnection with a case. Despite a written compromise between the two parties, the accused SI, Desh Raj, allegedly demanded Rs.5,000 to release the vehicle. Instead of paying the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB with an audio recording purportedly capturing the demand for the bribe. The ACB verified the complaint and the audio recording, which prima facie confirmed the demand for illegal gratification. The ACB then laid a trap and caught the accused SI red-handed while allegedly accepting the Rs.5,000 bribe from the complainant.
