Chandigarh, Sept. 29 -- A grand function was organised in the premises of Kulwant Rai Sarvhitkari Vidya Mandir, Sector 43-B on September 25 to commemorate 150 glorious years of our national song Vande Mataram. The programme was titled 'Vande Mataram Samoohik Gaan Karyakram - Namami Bharatam' with the theme 'Ek Samay, Ek Laya, Ek Swar'. The function was attended by many distinguished guests. The chief guest was Deepak Garg, managing director (MD), Otil & Marbela Group. The programme was also attended by Rajiv Kumar Bansal, assistant director, academic head of Punjab school education board (PSEB) and Pradeep Sharma, principal, Shri Sukhmani Polytechnic College, Dera Bassi. The total attendance was 405. All the guests were warmly welcomed by president Jagmohan Garg, manager Sanjeev and principal Kamaldeep Singh Sandhu. The programme commenced with flag hoisting and the national anthem. This was followed by the mass recital of Vande Mataram. Deepak Garg said, "Vande Mataram is not just a song, it is a mantra that gave strength to our freedom fighters and still inspires us to serve our nation."
