Semicon 2.0 draws Rs.1 lakh cr in potential chip investments
New Delhi, Sept. 18 -- Semiconductor companies have shown interest in investing around Rs.1 lakh crore ($11-12 billion) in India under Semicon 2.0, the second phase of the government's semiconductor programme, Union electronics and IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Thursday.
The figure covers companies that have held talks with the government, and the investments are yet to be formally announced or committed under the programme, Vaishnaw clarified.
He was speaking to the media on the sidelines of the first day of Semicon India 2026 in New Delhi.
