Chandigarh, July 27 -- Famous sufi Punjabi singer and poet Satinder Sartaj and noted lyricist Irshad Kamil shared their journey from the university to music industry during an event at Panjab University convention centre on Sunday. "The seven years I spent in PU during my master's, MPhil and Phd, gave me my craftsmanship," Satinder Sartaj said. Kamil, credited for writing Jab We Met, Rockstar, Love Aaj Kl movie songs, said, "PU is like my native place, where I find peace." Moderated by Prof Archana Singh and Prof Pushpinder Sayal, the event - 'Lafz, Sur aur Safar' - was organised by PU Alumni Association in collaboration with Chandigarh Citizens Foundation. Both have studied from Panjab University. Satinder got his first break get featured in album during 2006-07 when his video of singing on YouTube was seen by someone in Canada. Irshad Kamil added he got his first break to write songs for Karina Kapoor starrer Chameli when music director Sandesh met him for an interview in Chandigarh and was impressed by his poetry. PU vice chancellor Prof Renu Vig added their music is soothing and good for mental health. Satinder sang his popular songs and Kamil recited his poems....
