Sangrur: Tourism dept seeks police action against hosts
SANGRUR, Feb. 27 -- The Punjab tourism and cultural department has sought police action over an unauthorised wedding function held at the protected Banasar Bagh Baradari in Sangrur. The 19th-century site is protected under the Punjab Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1964.
Tourism director Sanjeev Kumar Tewari, in a letter to Sangrur SSP, has asked for action against the hosts for violating permission norms. "As part of the further action, we have also forfeited the security amount that the host had paid to organise the function at the site," Tewari said.
SSP Sartaj Singh Chahal said he would first verify the matter and could only provide an update after that.
According to the permission letter, issued by the directorate of cultural affairs, archaeology & archives museum, Punjab, the site was to be used for a shoot titled 'Pyar ka Safar'.
