Rs.2-cr jewellery stolen from SUV in Capital
New Delhi, Aug. 22 -- Two men allegedly robbed jewellery worth over Rs.2 crore from a jeweller's SUV after smashing the rear window, fleeing with three bags and a suitcase in Karol Bagh on Wednesday, police said on Thursday.
Police have detained three people for questioning in connection with the case.
Police said the jeweller, Kanhaiya Lal, came to Delhi on August 18 with his son, Dhruv Soni, and a staff member on a business trip and on August 19, Lal met several jewellers at the GK M Block market before heading to Karol Bagh for another business-related visit.
Police said around 5.30 pm, they parked their SUV on Arya Samaj Road, opposite a Canara Bank branch, left the bags and went to a nearby restaurant.
Police said two men on a motorcycle allegedly followed the SUV. "The suspects used a catapult to break the rear window of the parked SUV and took the three bags," said a police officer.
Police are also probing a Thursday robbery in the Chanakyapuri area where another jeweller, from Karol Bagh, was targeted by gun-wielding robbers and robbed of diamond jewellery worth Rs.59 lakhs. htc...
