Rs.1-crore sewer network overhaul starts in Mohali
Mohali, Aug. 8 -- The long-pending sewerage problems of Phase 7, 3B2 and adjoining localities may soon come to an end as work to lay new high-capacity sewer lines from Chawla Chowk to Matour Chowk in Phase 7 started on Friday. As part of the Rs.1-crore project, 700mm reinforced cement concrete (RCC) pipelines are being laid on the stretch.
Inaugurating the project, Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh said the work will be complete within six months. The MLA said residents had long been facing severe inconvenience due to repeated blockages in the existing sewer network. He said the new pipeline would improve drainage and ensure a lasting solution to sewerage issues in the area. Singh said the new pipeline has been designed using high-quality material and is expected to serve the area for the next 60 to 70 years.
The MLA congratulated mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana, senior deputy mayor RP Sharma, deputy mayor Harpal Singh Channa, municipal councillor Paramjit Singh Kahlon and the municipal corporation team for pursuing the project....
