Ronaldo speaks out, Messi bows out

t was a night of contrasting emotions for football's two biggest names. Cristiano Ronaldo broke his silence over his Portugal camp exit, while Lionel Messi ended a 21-year international career with Argentina.
In a lengthy statement, Ronaldo accused Portugal coach Jorge Jesus of breaking his word over the forward's role in the Nations League. The 41-year-old apologised for leaving camp after being benched against Norway and said he would accept any punishment, while making it clear he is not retiring. "After serving whatever suspension is imposed on me, I will be available," he said.
Messi, meanwhile, signed off in style in Buenos Aires, scoring from the spot and setting up two goals as Argentina beat Benin 3-0. The 39-year-old ended his international career with 126 goals in 208 appearances, a 2022 World Cup and two Copa America titles. An emotional Messi told the crowd, "I love all of you, and I will miss all of you."
