Mohali, July 17 -- The Punjab State and Chandigarh (UT) human rights commission has taken suo motu cognisance of a motorcyclist's death in Phase 8B Industrial Area after his bike skidded on a pothole concealed beneath rainwater. The incident took place on Tuesday evening around 4 pm when the victim, Rajdeep Singh, 27, a native of Tarn Taran, who worked at a paint manufacturing unit in Phase 8B, was returning home from work. He suffered head injuries in the mishap and succumbed during treatment. The report, headlined 'Waterlogged pothole claims 27-year-old biker's life in Mohali', appeared in these pages on July 16. A bench, comprising chairperson Justice Sant Parkash, Member Justice Gurbir Singh and Member Jitender Singh Shunty, has sought a report from the authorities concerned by the next date of hearing.
