Dehradun, July 18 -- A special investigation team (SIT) of the Chamoli police on Friday arrested a retired temple officer in connection with alleged theft of donations from Badrinath temple, officials said. Police said Rajendra Chauhan was caught on CCTV footage pocketing cash from the donation room on three occasions before retiring on June 30. SHO of Badrinath police station Mahadev Uniyal said, "We have found the involvement of former temple officer, Rajendra Chauhan, in the Badrinath temple donation theft case. He was found pocketing cash on three occasions on June 22, 25 and 29 in the CCTV examined by us. He was retired on June 30." Uniyal said Chauhan was arrested on Friday afternoon and will be produced before a court on Saturday. Police had earlier arrested suspended Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) personal assistant Pramod Nautiyal in the case. "Primary evidence suggests that two accused conspired in the case. However, we will interrogate him further to ascertain full extent of his role," he said....
