Bhopal, May 29 -- Retired judge Giribala Singh, mother-in-law of former model Twisha Sharma, was arrested from her residence on Thursday by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team in connection to the dowry death case of Sharma, officers said. CBI officers took Giribala Singh to the MANIT campus (Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology), where a temporary office was formed by the investigating agency. The medical board was summoned to conduct her medical examination at MANIT. Giribala is scheduled to be produced in court on Friday and CBI will try to secure her custody. She faces charges of tampering with evidence and not cooperating with the investigating agency. On Thursday morning at 10:30am, a CBI team arrived at Giribala's residence and registered her statement for seven hours. She was arrested at 5:10pm. CBI also recorded a 3D video of the crime scene to collect the evidence. An officer said, "In the CCTV footage from May 12, Twisha appeared normal. She entered her room at 9:42 pm and went upstairs at 10:13 pm, before allegedly dying by suicide. The 31 minutes in between are crucial in determining what transpired between Twisha and Samarth, and how she sustained injuries. The interrogation of Samarth and Giribala is scheduled for Friday." On Wednesday, the Madhya Pradesh high court had cancelled Giribala's anticipatory bail. In a 17-page order issued late night, the single bench of justice Devanarayan Mishra observed consistent allegations, non-cooperation, heinous nature of offence, and trial court's failure to consider evidence as main points to cancel the bail order given by Bhopal district court on May 15. The court said, "The anticipatory bail order by 10th Additional Sessions Judge, Bhopal for the offense punishable under sections 80(2), 85, 3(5) of BNS, 2023 and Sections 3 & 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, is hereby quashed." The court order added that after getting anticipatory bail, Giribala didn't cooperate with CBI though several notices were issued to her. Sharma died on May 12 while the FIR was registered on May 15. Giribala was granted interim bail on the same day while Samarth was arrested on last Friday and will be in CBI custody till May 29....
