Restore green belt in Karnal: SC to Haryana
New Delhi, March 24 -- The Supreme Court has directed the Haryana government and its municipal authorities to "expeditiously" restore a green belt in Karnal where 40 fully grown trees were uprooted to build an access road to a BJP office, emphasising that the area must be brought back to its original condition .
A bench of justice JB Pardiwala and justice KV Viswanathan said it would "appreciate if the Horticulturist makes further efforts to see that the entire area becomes dense with trees and the green belt is restored to its original position," while directing that all remedial work proceed without delay....
