India, Sept. 16 -- The biggest night in American television returned to Los Angeles on Monday, with The Pitt and Widow's Bay emerging as the top winners at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards. Widow's Bay set a comedy record with 14 Emmys, while Matthew Rhys became the first man to win two lead acting awards in the same year. Jean Smart made history too, taking her fifth straight Lead Actress in a Comedy win for Hacks and becoming the first performer to win for every season of a show. Sally Field, 79, became the oldest winner in the Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie category, while Widow's Bay director Hiro Murai became the first person of Asian heritage to win the comedy directing Emmy. One of the night's biggest crowd-pleasers came when pop star Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance in a Law & Order: SVU-themed sketch with her cat Olivia Benson, named after Mariska Hargitay's character on the show. Cult series Buffy the Vampire Slayer stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz reunited onstage as the show marked 30 years. Michael J.
