AYODHYA, July 22 -- The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust will hold two crucial meetings on Wednesday to appoint the temple's first chief executive officer (CEO), reconstitute its five key committees and fill three vacant trustee posts, people familiar with the matter said, amid heightened scrutiny following the alleged embezzlement of donations. According to people familiar with the matter, the Trust's executive committee will first meet at 3 pm at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex before convening a second meeting at Mani Ram Das Chhavni Peeth, the residence of Trust chairman Mahant Nritya Gopal Das. The appointment of the temple's first CEO is expected to be the most important decision. A three-member search panel will submit a shortlist of three candidates, one of whom will be selected to oversee the temple's administration, finances and devotee services. The post has attracted applications from retired bureaucrats, corporate leaders and Ram devotees. Speaking to reporters in Ayodhya, Trust member Swami Parmanand Giri said the vacancies in the trust would have to be filled. The vacancies arose after former general secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra resigned amid the donation controversy, while trustee Vimlendra Mohan Pratap Mishra died in August 2025. Asked about the Supreme Court's observations on Monday regarding entrusting the probe to a Special Investigation Team (SIT), Giri said the trust would first wait for the existing SIT's report. "If the present SIT is not considered appropriate, forming another one will not make much difference." On whether any names were being considered for the vacancies, Giri said: "There is nothing as of now, but the vacancies have to be filled and whatever is to be decided will be discussed in tomorrow's meeting."...
