Chandigarh, June 10 -- Panjab University's department of Indian theatre staged Kesariya Rangatha, a theatrical adaptation of Raghuveer Sharan Mitra's novel Sone Ki Raakh, at the studio theatre on Tuesday. Rooted in Rajasthan's folk traditions, the production retold the saga of Rani Padmini through live music and ensemble performance. PU vice-chancellor Renu Vig, who inaugurated the show, praised the department's commitment to cultural engagement and congratulated the students on their performance. What made the production stand out was its scale of participation--all MA-1 and 2 students of the department were on stage, after more than two months of rehearsals under the direction of department chairperson Navdeep Kaur, who also adapted, designed, and wrote the lyrics for the play.
