Srinagar, March 20 -- Rains continued to lash plains while snowfall in higher reaches on Thursday plunged down mercury across J&K. "In the past 24 hours, light to moderate rain and snow was experienced at most places. Baramulla recorded 29.5 mm rain (till 8.30 am), Poonch 29 mm, Batote 25.5 mm and Pahlgam 20.6 mm," said an official of the meteorological centre in J&K. The ski resort of Gulmarg recorded 23 cm snow. The MeT has predicted cloudy weather for Friday as well with intermittent light to moderate rain and snow at most places. "Few higher reaches of Chenab valley & South Kashmir may receive moderate to heavy snowfall," an update by MeT said.
