Chandigarh, June 10 -- Punjab finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Tuesday sent a communication to the Union government to allot special trains from Punjab to Guru Ravidas Janam Asthan temple in Seer Govardhanpur, Varanasi, to enable pilgrims from the state to pay obeisance on his upcoming 650th Parkash Purab. Cheema, who is chairman of the cabinet sub-committee formed by the state government to organise the state-level celebrations, made this call while chairing a high-level review meeting. The minister said the communication was a reminder of earlier requests to the Centre. During the meeting, the department of tourism and cultural affairs delivered a presentation outlining the month-wise celebrations plan till December.
