Chandigarh, Oct. 6 -- The Punjab government has moved the Punjab and Haryana high court demanding that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) be directed to return the documents its officers took away during a raid at the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) office last month. The government has requested the bench of chief justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra for urgent listing of the case, claiming that public at large was facing inconvenience and official work of the development agency was affected due to ED taking away the documents. The matter is likely to be taken up on Tuesday. The ED raid started on September 23 and continued till September 25 afternoon as part of a money-laundering probe against Delhi-based realty firm Tirupati Infraprojects Pvt Ltd and its associated companies. The federal agency is probing alleged irregularities in land acquisition, auctions, master-plan changes and concessions granted to private developers by GMADA. After the completion of searches, the ED had claimed that manipulation of reserve prices of unsold land could have resulted in a potential loss of nearly Rs.10,000 crore to GMADA and the Punjab government.
