PU invites applications for VC's post, last date May 5
Chandigarh, April 7 -- Panjab University (PU) has advertised the post of vice-chancellor, with a fixed pay of Rs.2,10,000 per month plus applicable allowances, as the search for a successor to incumbent V-C Renu Vig gets formally underway. The last date for receiving applications is May 5, 2026.
Vig, who was appointed the university's 14th and first woman V-C on March 29, 2023, is currently serving a four-month extension granted by the Vice President of India, who also serves as the university's Chancellor. The extension, effective from March 29, runs until late July, coinciding with the start of the 2026-27 admission cycle.
A three member search-cum-selection committee has already been constituted under Section 10 of the Panjab University Act, 1947, to identify her successor. The all-woman panel is chaired by Lt Gen Madhuri Kanitkar (retd), V-C of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, with Shashikala Wanjari of NIEPA, New Delhi, and Vibha Tandon, director of CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Kolkata, as members.
The post requires a Ph.D degree, a minimum of 10 years of experience as a Professor, a strong research and academic record, and leadership and administrative experience. The detailed advertisement and application format are available on the university's recruitment portal....
