Chandigarh, Sept. 3 -- The 37th Regional Youth Parliament Competition was organised with great grandeur and an impressive atmosphere today by PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sector-31 at the Harjinder Auditorium, Air Force Station, 3 BRD Chandigarh. Approximately 500 students from eight Kendriya Vidyalayas across the Chandigarh region participated enthusiastically in the competition. Gyan Chand Gupta, former speaker of the Haryana Legislative Assembly, attended as the chief guest. Air Commodore Nipun Gupta, chairman of the Vidyalaya Management Committee; Anurag Bhatnagar, deputy commissioner of KVS Regional Office Chandigarh; RC Sharma, assistant commissioner; Randhir Singh, retired assistant commissioner of KVS Gurgaon Region; and Gurpreet Singh, principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya High Ground were present. The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp. Following this, the students of the school presented Saraswati Vandana. A welcome song performed by the students greeted the teachers, participating students, and members of the jury who arrived from various Kendriya Vidyalayas. In his welcome address, the principal of the school, Subhash Chand, highlighted the significance of the Youth Parliament, imparting a message to students to remain aware of democratic values, allegiance to the Constitution, and parliamentary procedures.
