Chandigarh, July 27 -- A 58-year-old patient attempted suicide by jumping from the fifth floor of the Advanced Trauma Centre at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) on Sunday. He sustained severe injuries and was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the trauma centre, officials said. In a statement, the PGIMER said the patient had undergone surgery for chronic subdural haemorrhage at the Advanced Trauma Centre on July 23. Following the procedure, he was shifted to the fifth floor of the neurosurgery ward, where his condition was being monitored by doctors. According to officials, the patient was scheduled to be discharged on Sunday, but before the process could be completed, he allegedly jumped through the washroom window, resulting in severe injuries.
