P'kula MC chief appeals striking sanitation staff to resume duties
India, Sept. 8 -- Municipal commissioner Vinay Kumar on Monday has appealed to the sanitation workers who have been on a strike since a month now, to resume their duties.
The workers have been on strike since August 6.
Kumar said the state government has decided to bring eligible contractual employees, including sanitation workers, under the Haryana Contractual Employees Act, 2024, providing security of tenure up to the age of 60 years. Eligible contractual employees will also receive benefits such as dearness allowance (DA), death-cum-retirement gratuity (DCRG), maternity leave and hardship allowance. The unions' principal demands include the regularisation of contractual sanitation employees, abolition of the outsourcing system, and written implementation of the May 13 agreement. Kumar said the workers who have completed more than 10 years of service would be entitled to a minimum monthly remuneration of Rs.25,560 under the government's decision.htc...
