India, Sept. 17 -- Knee surgery has evolved from a painful, long-haul recovery process into a precision science designed to give patients quicker recovery without the need for aggressive physiotherapy. Ojas Hospital, a unit of Alchemist Hospitals, has taken a step in this direction by introducing a robotic knee surgery system. It combines advanced robotic technology with its new Natura 3D Knee Resurfacing Protocol to restore the patient's natural knee mechanics while making recovery smoother and more comfortable. The protocol has been developed by the hospital's advanced orthopaedics team, which includes Dr Suresh Singla, Director of Orthopaedics and Joint Replacement; Dr Anmol Sharma, Senior Consultant, Trauma, Joint Replacement and Arthroscopic Surgery; and Dr Navdeep Gupta, Senior Consultant, Joint Replacement and Arthroscopic Surgery. Explaining the Natura 3D approach, Dr Singla says it combines 3D planning, robotic precision, personalised alignment and natural-motion implants. Instead of treating every knee in the same way, the patient's individual anatomy and natural alignment are considered while planning the surgery. The surgical philosophy also incorporates principles similar to the Jiffy Knee-type muscle-sparing technique, with an emphasis on preserving muscles and soft tissues wherever clinically appropriate. This may support earlier movement and functional recovery, said Dr Sharma. Another important component is the Quiet Knee Protocol, which combines modern pain-management techniques, swelling control and early mobilisation.
