Chandigarh, Aug. 7 -- Punjab food, civil supplies and consumer affairs minister Lal Chand Kataruchak on Thursday said the state government was committed to ensuring that no eligible family was deprived of free ration under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013. Replying to a question in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, the minister said at least 10 lakh people in the state had applied for fresh ration cards and the portal "https://ercms.punjab.gov.in" will remain open till August 11 for new applications. Additionally, people can also apply manually at the offices concerned. In case of any difficulty or to seek information, people can contact the office of their respective district food & supply controller (DFSC). He said free ration was being provided to eligible beneficiaries under both the Priority Household Scheme and the Antyodaya Anna Yojana. The minister further said Punjab had more than 14,000 ration depots across the state and all of them were equipped with e-PoS machines to ensure transparency in distribution of ration, adding that 2,800 more such depots had been allotted recently....
