Dehradun, June 27 -- Hours of standoff between a group of Nihang Sikhs and the Uttarakhand administration at the Dehradun border in Kulhal area ended late on Thursday after the group, which had attempted to march to Karnaprayag seeking the release of four Nihang Sikhs arrested in connection with the June 16 clash, returned to Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh early on Friday following negotiations with authorities, officials aware of the matter said. The SSP said, "Adequate police force had been deployed at the Kulhal border. A large number of members of the sangat accepted our request and agreed to return to PaontaSahib. Some others reached Race Course, where after discussions with me and the district magistrate, they also agreed to return."
