NIA questions activist over'threat calls from Pak gangster'
Ludhiana, March 11 -- A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday visited the residence of anti-Khalistan activist Gursimran Singh Mand here and questioned him for over an hour in connection with the "threats by Pakistani gangster Shehzad Bhatti and his associates."
According to Mand, he received a call from the NIA in the afternoon informing him that officials would be visiting his residence. Shortly afterwards, the agency's team arrived and questioned him to collect information and evidence related to the threats.
Mand said he had received calls on October 7, 8 and 9 last year. The caller introduced himself as an associate of Bhatti and warned of plans to target temples in Ludhiana and Jalandhar.
The activist further stated that the caller also threatened to throw a hand grenade at his residence. According to him, the threatening calls continued until October 25.
During the visit, the NIA team reportedly collected all relevant data, call records and other evidence. The NIA officials also assured him that they are working to identify and dismantle the criminal network behind the threats. htc...
