Mohali, Aug. 17 -- The The district consumer disputes redressal commission, SAS Nagar, directed the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) and Punjab National Bank (PNB) to pay Rs.2 lakh to a Nayagaon man under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), holding that failure to process the claim amounted to deficiency in service and unfair trade practice.
Complainant Gaurav Kumar stated that his mother Raj Rani was enrolled in the PMJJBY scheme through her PNB account in 2015. She died on November 1, 2022, due to natural causes but LIC and PNB did not settle his insurance claim.
